mdCockpit App

At SOFA53NEUN, we love challenges. And when Microdrones asked us to improve their mdCockpit App, we were immediately on board. The app, which runs on Android tablets, allows drone pilots to plan and execute flight routes intuitively and clearly. Our mission: implement new features and act in an advisory capacity to make the app even more user-friendly. Not an easy task, but exactly our thing.

Clean and intuitive

Our main focus was on developing a clean user interface. Because we know: good design is one that is hardly noticed. It should not distract users but help them perform their tasks efficiently. So we focused on logical workflows and intuitive operation. The result: a clear layout, easily understandable icons, and a tidy color scheme that ensures a consistent user experience.

High Fidelity Prototyping

In developing the mdCockpit App, we relied on high fidelity prototyping. Using interactive prototypes created with Origami Studio, we were able to visualize the process clearly and transparently for all stakeholders before programming began. This not only facilitated coordination with stakeholders but also shortened the development phases. A real benefit for everyone involved.

Another important aspect of our work was creating a consistent appearance. To do this, we developed a comprehensive, uniform icon system with more than 300 icons and paid attention to logical workflows. We also created animations for a more understandable onboarding. Because we know: a good product is one that not only satisfies its users but also excites them. And that is exactly what we achieved with the mdCockpit App.

Consistency is key
