Flexibility in times of crisis

The requirements were diverse and urgent: With the outbreak of war in Ukraine, a new website had to be created from scratch within a day, offering a personal, approachable yet professional tone. The website should provide information on various ways to donate goods, money, and time, while also enabling coordination of needs and volunteer efforts.
We designed the website to be adaptable to new crisis areas. For example, shortly after the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria in 2023, we made immediate updates to the online presence, contributing to rapid aid for the affected populations in the region.

For the website design, we drew inspiration from the daily work of the Spendenbrücke. The color scheme aligns with the existing corporate design, and as a graphic style element, we used images of adhesive tape, similar to what is used when packing donations. The logo was derived from the Berlin Airlift Memorial to emphasize the aspect of aid. Of course, the site is responsive, ensuring it looks good and is easily accessible on all devices.

The website is hosted and maintained via Webflow, making updates to content, news, and FAQs very easy. Additionally, we optimized the site both technically and content-wise for search engines. Since the Spendenbrücke operates internationally, the site is available not only in German but also in English.

Spendenbrücke

Spendenbrücke is an initiative of Tentaja Soziale gGmbH. It is based in HANGAR1 at the former Tempelhof Airport, continuing the spirit of the Airlift. Its mission is to provide quick and needs-based assistance to people in distress. It supports those affected by war, flight, displacement, and disasters through the help of engaged volunteers. Beyond established aid structures, Spendenbrücke collaborates with partner organizations from crisis regions to deliver tailored aid.

Spendenbrücke is more than an organization — it is a bridge connecting people in need with those willing to help. It enables quick and straightforward responses to crises like the war in Ukraine or the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. As a central contact point, it provides information on donations of goods, money, and time, and coordinates volunteer efforts. Its work helps ensure aid reaches where it is most urgently needed.
